AKK Gas Pipeline Project
Last Updated on: 10-Nov-2024
Project Overview
The Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline is a flagship 614-kilometre natural gas transportation backbone designed to link Nigeria's gas-rich southern basins to industrial and power-generation hubs across the north. Once commissioned, the line is expected to carry up to 2.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day, anchoring new gas-fired power plants, fertiliser production, and industrial clusters along the corridor.
Structured as a public-private partnership under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the project opens opportunities for investors across construction, compression infrastructure, metering, and long-term gas off-take. It sits at the centre of Nigeria's gas-to-power strategy and the broader national decade of gas agenda.

Extended Project Brief
The Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline is a 614 km strategic backbone designed to monetise stranded gas in Nigeria's southern fields and deliver it to under-served industrial and power-generation hubs across the north. Total capital outlay is USD 2.6 Bn under a public-private structure, with sovereign cover from the Federal Ministry of Power and offtake commitments anchored by NIPCO and existing IPPs. The deal carries a 17.4% target IRR, a 6.2-year payback, a USD 5M minimum investor ticket, and a 5-year lock-up.
