Enugu State

A rising investment powerhouse in South-East Nigeria — rich in coal, limestone and arable land, and targeting a $30bn economy by 2031.

About Enugu State

Enugu — the historic "Coal City" — is the capital of Enugu State and the administrative heart of Nigeria's South-East. Predominantly rural with substantially rich arable land, over 70% of its people are farmers cultivating crops such as oil palm, cassava, cashew and the renowned Nsukka pepper.

The state is rich in natural resources including coal, limestone and iron ore, and is undergoing a historic transformation under an aggressive ease-of-doing-business agenda. Through the Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA), the government offers a one-stop facilitation window, tax incentives and streamlined land access for both domestic and foreign investors.

Anchored by the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, extensive road and rail corridors, and a temperate climate, Enugu presents unique opportunities across agriculture, mining, energy, technology and tourism.
